The Kuwaiti Danish Dairy Company KCSC (KDD): Shaping Nutrition, Sustainability, and Innovation Since 1962

KDD began in 1962 as a dairy company called the Danish Kuwaiti Dairy Company. Production started in Shuwaikh with pasteurized milk and yoghurt. Soon, the brand became known for quality and reliability. By the 1970s, KDD launched the first ice cream production line in Kuwait. Over the decades, KDD grew into a household name. The portfolio expanded to include long life milk, fruit juice, cheese, and tomato paste. Exports soon reached other GCC markets, building its reputation as a trusted regional supplier.

Resilience in Challenging Times

The 1990s brought major challenges. During the Iraqi invasion, KDD stayed operational despite severe hardships. After the factory was bombed, the team relocated and quickly restarted production. This spirit of resilience enabled rebuilding and modernization for the 21st century. New investments and innovations followed, helping KDD become a key supplier to retailers and institutions across the region.

Innovation and Commitment to Health

Innovation remains at the heart of KDD. During its Golden Jubilee, it reflected on fifty years of growth, resilience, and customer focus. The team continues to lead the way with new products, advanced food technology, and healthier options. Recent years brought the introduction of fortified milks and reduced sugar items. During the Covid-19 pandemic, the company prioritized employee and consumer safety. Continued investment in nutrition led to the launch of the Metabolic Matrix and the Good For Me® product range, focusing on metabolic health and better choices.

Sustainability at the Core

KDD leads in sustainability and responsible practices. The company works to reduce its environmental footprint and support local communities. In 2023, KDD recycled 70% of its waste and joined the Go Green initiative to cut parcel shipment emissions. The goal is zero waste to landfill and AWS certification for water stewardship. KDD also launched a Supplier Engagement Program to promote sustainable sourcing and minimize environmental impact.

Investing in People and Community

Diversity, inclusion, and personal growth shape KDD’s culture. Forty-one nationalities are represented in the workforce, and training opportunities are widely available. KDD supports community well-being, hosting factory visits and sponsoring sporting events. Employee health, safety, and well-being remain top priorities.

Looking to the Future

Today, KDD offers more than 120 products, from dairy to ice cream, juices, and culinary items. The company holds multiple certifications, ensuring quality and safety. KDD’s mission is clear: produce sustainably, support human wellness, and leave only goodness behind. The vision for the future remains strong, focused on nutrition, community, and the planet.
